Benefits of a desk calendar

Whether you know it or not, having a desk calendar can not only simplify your life, it can help you alleviate stress and anxiety that often comes with trying to track your appointments.

Though we’d like to believe that we’re naturally organised and can remember everything that we need to take care of throughout the week, it’s simply not possible to do long-term. To help you understand here are six things it can help you accomplish.

Track your appointments

While it might seem like a no-brainer, having a calendar on your desk can help you track and maintain your weekly appointments – even if you don’t have many.

Unfortunately, those individuals who have a few meetings and appointments sporadically are more inclined to forget, simply because it’s not routine. Likewise, if you’re accustomed to having quite a few appointments, forgetting a name or address is quite common. By recording everything in a central location, you’ll have the access you need to all the details, instead of trying to keep all the information in your head.

Stay on top of your bills

There’s nothing worse than having to pay late fees on your bills, simply because you couldn’t remember to pay it. Unfortunately, it goes hand in hand with disorganisation. To help you remember to pay your bills on time, start by writing down the due dates on your desk calendar. If you know how much your bills are each month, take the time to include the amounts you need to pay as well. For those individuals who find it hard to get the bills paid, include a small note a few days before.

Remember holidays

Tracking a schedule for yourself is hard enough – never mind adding in all the days off school, holidays, routines and schedules for the rest of your household.

Even if you don’t have children of your own, if your family typically has celebrations (like birthdays or anniversaries) make sure you track them on your desk calendar. Ensure that you write down any gifts or cards you need to buy at least a week in advance, so you’ll have ample time to send it in the mail (if needed).

Organise any ongoing projects

If you are trying to plan out a larger project, using a desk calendar is the perfect way to plan everything that you’re needing for the ongoing basis. Make sure you break down the project into smaller more attainable sections so you do not start feeling upset that you’re not making progress. By breaking things down, you’re more likely to see what’s truly involved when it comes to your end goal – and how much work you actually need to do. If you’re not certain on time lengths (if it’s a new project, for instance) then simply estimate the amount of time you’re going to need before beginning.
